Vintage Birch Stool 6Os by Alvar Aalto for Artek circa 2003 / 1990s.
Through experiments in wood bending, Finnish architect and designer Alvar Aalto developed and patented a technique for cutting and steaming birchwood to make it more malleable. This process led to the Aalto Stool 60 (1933), a small, stackable stool with an L-leg, which Aalto referred to as “the little sister of the architectural column.”
Features natural Birch top and 3 legs with excellent patina to the Birch.
Two stools from 2003 with Artek label. Surfaces in excellent condition with minimal scratching/scuffing. Legs show minor spots/scuffs. One stool has split in seat at side as pictured (last photo). Does not affect usage / shows excellently. Priced accordingly. (Artek 2003 split @ checkout.) Other stool in excellent condition. (Artek 2003 best @ checkout)
Final stool circa 1990s with ICF label. Surface shows minor patina/age spots. Legs have minor scuffs and spots otherwise in excellent desirable condition. (ICF 60 @ checkout)
