In 1960, Dino Gavina founded Gavina SpA, the company that would eventually manufacture the designs of the important Italian designers of the 1950s and 1960s, such as the Castiglioni brothers, Carlo and Tobia Scarpa, Cini Boeri, Vico Magistretti and Mario Bellini. In 1962, together with Cesare Cassina and the industrialist Arturo Eisenkeil, Dino Gavina founded FLOS, which is still one of the most important Italian lighting companies today. In 1974, Italian artist and designer Enzo Mari and Dino Gavina collaborated on the Metamobile project by producing a small number of do-it-yourself tables, chairs and beds using Enzo Mari's designs published that same year in the book Autoprogettazione.
Today, Dino Gavina is remembered for his entrepreneurial skills and for being one of the most influential figures in the world of industrial design.
